We have four cats in our home, each with their own quirks, but one of them — our beloved Dot — is completely obsessed with his little loops. From the time he was a kitten, these have been his absolute favorite toy, and his love for them has never faded. He carries them around proudly in his mouth, tosses them in the air, chases them like prey, and struts around like a little hunter when he “catches” one. It’s the cutest thing — he even tucks them into his various beds, as if he’s storing his treasures for later. Occasionally, he gets one of his brothers to join in the game, and they’ll tumble around chasing loops together, but the other two cats couldn’t care less. They look at the loops like Dot’s completely lost it, but to him, they’re everything. We’ve learned to always keep a pack on hand because if Dot can’t find one, he gets visibly upset — like something essential is missing from his world. He leaves them in the most inconvenient places, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stepped on one in the middle of the night. The great part is, they bounce back — literally and figuratively — and don’t lose shape easily. Still, over time they either get too bent or vanish under the fridge or couch forever, so replacements are always necessary. Honestly, I have no idea how many sets we’ve bought over the years, but it’s easily dozens. These loops have been a constant joy in Dot’s life for over eight years, and they’ve become such a staple in our home that I can’t imagine life without a few lying around. For a simple toy, they’ve brought so much happiness to one very devoted cat — and by extension, to us as well.
